The Air is not really meant for gaming through a VM. Especially with only 8 gigs of RAM. Even with active cooling, better performance, and 16 gigs of RAM, my M1 Pro just can’t play many games anyway due to compatibility issues. They do not work, there are issues both with Big Sur on Intel Macs (Steam attempts to run an update that fails unless you disable verification in Recovery mode) and M1. Controller connects on M1 but doesn't work in game. So you can drive Big Picture mode but in games it doesn't work. Xbox one or PS4. No support at all yet for XB Ser X or S, or PS5.

You actually can play some games, however, due to UTM dont have 3D acceleration support for windows, most games will be slow, or simply them wont run. UTM is awesome, but the lack of 3D acceleration is going to make gaming a pretty bad experience. I recommend Crossover and/or Parallels instead, or if you want something free you can try Wineskin.

Until PDX goes native, no guarantee they will and they refuse to answer when queried, performance will suffer.
